This week is Fire Prevention Week. While we often hear the reminders each year to test all of your building or home’s smoke detectors, a lesser-known thing is to REPLACE them every 10 years.
The National Fire Protection Association says that just like any other devices or products you use over time, smoke detectors have parts that are prone to failure.
Don’t know how old your smoke detector is? Just look on the back of the device, because the manufacture date is required to be printed on there.
